Let it be known that in the year of our lord 2017, the ethereal mystique known as Lorde has laid first claim to dominate the year.
The New Zealand pop star has returned with “Green Light,” her first single in three years and the first from her upcoming sophomore album, Melodrama. Co-written with Jack Antanoff of fun. and Bleachers and frequent collaborator Joel Little, “Green Light” is much brighter-sounding song than anything off of Lorde’s smash debut album Pure Heroine while still having Lorde’s signature smokey vocals and sharp delivery. Lorde’s own description of the song via her Twitter page also speaks for itself.
Melodrama is set to be released this summer, and Lorde will make festival appearances at Coachella, Bonnaroo, and the Governor’s Ball. What do you think of the new song? Let us know in the comments below.
