Lana Del Rey is back, out with a new single that screams retro chic. We haven’t heard much since her album Honeymoon, but the music in that album was able to tide fans over. “Love” is a euphonic, vintage song that highlights Lana’s vocals and a simple message of young love. It seems she’s crooning about herself at first listen, but if you pay closer attention, it becomes clear. She focuses on anyone who is “to be young and in love”, even with a shift to first person at the end of the song. The general message is directed towards anyone listening, rather than expressing her feelings. Her light and airy notes during the chorus contrast the sultry verses.
The music video that came along with the single embodies the song perfectly. It features Lana Del Rey as if she came straight from the 1960’s or Coachella, hair lined with daises, swinging and singing in a flowy white dress. Scenes flip by showing couples, in awe of the universe and ready to take on the world. It takes the simple message and twists it into something more, portraying love at its finest. The song has come well-received by fans, and has caused them to hope for another album from the artist. It’s a typical sound from the singer, but a modern and updated take. It can be easily differentiated from her other tunes.
“Love” will soon become an iconic song for Lana Del Rey, and I can see it becoming one of her more famous songs. Take a listen to the song below and tell us what you think!
