Fall Out Boy pays homage to NSYNC in the “Irresistible” Video

Inspired by the infamous relationship between Sex Pistols bass guitarist Sid Vicious and Nancy Spungen, “Irresistible” examines the masochistic side of love. It was released as a single in England earlier last year, and a remix was released in America this past October. The new version featured vocals from pop artist Demi Lovato, a rather lukewarm addition considering how powerful Lovato’s voice can be.

Earlier today, Fall Out Boy released the music video for the “Irresistible” remix, and it’s more glorious than I ever imagined. Planned as a sequel to NSYNC’s iconic “It’s Gonna Be Me” video (source of the Justin Timberlake “It’s Gonna Be May” memes for those who may have missed the height of NSYNC’s career), “Irresistible” has Demi Lovato working at a toy store that sells Fall Out Boy dolls that come alive — just like the NSYNC dolls of yore.

The added vocals still leave a lot to be desired, but what an epic video. The boys even had Chris Kirkpatrick and Joey Fatone guest star, as well as cameos by the No Strings Attached NSYNC dolls. It’s a true gift to the nostalgia generation.
