It’s a beautiful day in the neighborhood and we have been blessed.
This past Friday The Neighbourhood dropped their album, Wiped Out!, and have received quite a response. The alternative rock band began back in 2011 and signed under Columbia Records. Jesse Rutherford, Jeremy Freedman, Zach Abels, Mikey Margott, and Brandon Fried make up the group and pride themselves in their Californian roots. The Neighbourhood is known for their blended sound of indie rock and hip-hop elements and have been described as “genre benders” so they are often placed in the “experimental” category.
It seems as though it is this distinctiveness that has made the band so popular over the years. Their most well-known single, “Sweater Weather,” off their debut album, I Love You, was number one on the Billboard Alternative Songs Chart for eleven weeks in 2013, and some critics project Wiped Out! to be similarly successful. The Neighbourhood has amassed a loyal following who has been long waiting to hear the latest album.
