British girl group Little Mix once again introduces a new sound with their latest single, “Love Me Like You.” Whereas previous tracks “Black Magic” is pure bubblegum pop fun and “Hair” provides a sassy break up anthem, “Love Me Like You” is a retro-pop love song full of wanting. It reminds me of something the Crystals or the Shirelles might release, if they had been around fifty years later.
The music video tackles a major coming-of-age moment for teenagers: THE PROM. Jesy, Jade, Leigh-Anne, and Perrie mope at a table, seemingly without dates. Later we see four promposals–one for each member of Little Mix, but all with the same guy! DRAMA.
See what happens when that gentleman arrives in the “Love Me Like You” video here:
The video is good fun, though I would have liked to see some “The Boy is Mine”-style resolution for the girls. The video is lacking on that front.
Get Weird will be available November 6, 2015. Preorder the album on iTunes HERE or on Amazon HERE.
