Earlier today, The Wombats released “Give Me a Try,” the third single from their upcoming third studio album Glitterbug. The latest installment in the (long) road to Glitterbug is a optimistic tune, but not without the Wombats’ signature tongue-in-cheek realism. The chorus: “We could be gigantic, everything I need/Vicodin on a Sunday night/This could be worth the risk, worth the guarantee/This could be the drug that doesn’t bite/Just give me a try.”

A Tinder-like app called Let’s Date! sets the stage in “Give Me a Try;” as each of the characters flick through the app, they see clips of Let’s Daters putting on personas in order to get others to take a chance on them. While the beginning is rife with disinterest and disappointment, the story has a happy ending for one lucky Dater. The band members appear only briefly to do a little air guitar. The idea of the video brings to mind Neon Trees’ Pop Psychology, an album that serves as a commentary on modern dating culture.

Glitterbug will be available April 14, 2015. You can pre-order it on iTunes here or on Amazon here.
