Shawn Mendes is an artist who has generated quite the buzz lately. Less than a year ago, the Canadian singer-songwriter started his music career by posting videos on Vine. From there, his fan base quickly grew. With over 3 million Vine followers, the multitude of covers that he posted got the attention of Island Records. Already signed with a label and having released his debut EP, he has hit the ground running. At only 16 years old, this rising artist has already performed on The Ellen Show. He performed his hit, “Life of the Party,” and had a surprise up his sleeve after the performance. He got the opportunity to meet two of his biggest fans and send them to the iHeart Radio Music Festival in Las Vegas. This only shows us a glimpse of how much he loves his fans. The catchy tune is the first single off of his debut EP. Shawn will be performing in three cities where he will be headlining and promoting his EP, The Shawn Mendes EP. Right after his EP was released, it reached the top of the iTunes charts in just 37 minutes. This accomplishment is definitely not seen every day.

His single “Life of the Party” sold over 100,000 copies in the first day, and on top of that, it broke onto the Billboard’s Top 100 Top 25 charts. Shawn is now the youngest artist to have a debut single on the Top 25. With acoustic melodic tunes, the young artist has already started to develop a mature sound. Some say that he is similar to a young John Mayer, so that comparison speaks wonders to Shawn’s musical abilities. His single “Life of the Party” has lyrics that are empowering and that remind us to embrace ourselves and love the attributes that make us unique.
