Childish Gambino, otherwise known as Donald Glover, released today a teaser trailer for his upcoming album Because The Internet, which will be available according to the YouTube description “this winter break”. Check the trailer below.
I’m sold on that short teaser. And while we wait, check our review for his debut album Camp.
In other news, Jay Z signed to Roc Nation the brother-sister duo, Wardell. Wardell is formed by Sasha and Theo Spielberg, yes, the children of the acclaimed film director Steven Spielberg. Wardell’s debut album is expected to be released on 2014.
You can listen to their single “Opossum” below and you can also read the release from the Roc Nation website:

Sasha and Theo are brother and sister. That familiarity and fondness informs the music that they make together, which is at once warm and summery, comfortable and chill as a result of their Los Angeles upbringing. It’s the kind of music you’d expect from two people who grew up sharing a wall, infused with that particular intimacy that comes with a life spent knowing each other. And while they draw from a wide range of influences , they have managed to create a sound that is wholly their own. Having released the single “Opossum” to great acclaim, including a feature on NPR as Song of the Day, Wardell is hard at work on their debut album, which will come out in 2014.
From the single, I can tell that Roc Nation is definitely expanding beyond mainstream acts, and Wardell’s sound reminds me of Best Coast and other west coast performers that have the same California/relaxed vibe. Can’t wait to see what they have in store.
Are you excited for Because the Internet? What do you think of Roc Nation’s signing of Wardell? Let us know in the comments!
