Top 10: Backstreet Boys Music Videos!

backstreet boys

My favorite boy band of all time just celebrated their 20th anniversary and finally have a star in the Hall of Fame. I really wouldn’t know the logic or physics behind this event, I mean, I remember the release of the “We’ve Got it Goin’ On” music video, but whatever, that’s not the point. The point for this post is to celebrate and reminisce in those 90s days where pop reigned supreme and Backstreet Boys were the One Direction to girls in all ages.

10. “We’ve Got it Goin’ On”

The video that started it all, for me. After all, they are introducing themselves to the audience. I remember watching this video with my sister, the person that I blame for my fangirling ways. She was THE fangirl. If you knew my sister back in the 90s, she had posters in her room,  she was an actual fan club member, she recorded on our VHS episodes from TRL, All Access (do you remember All Access!?!), Making the Video, anything where the Backstreet Boys where on, she would record it. Even when they were on the radio, she would record their songs on a cassette! Ugh, kids nowadays have it so easy!  MIND YOU: This all happened while we were living in Colombia! I don’t know where those tapes are, but I can pinpoint watching this video and becoming a fan instantly.

9. “The One”

BSB’s ode to their fans. What’s not to love? A tribute to their fans, clips when they were on tour. I would have given anything to be at one of their concerts to be honest. If you did manage to attend one of their concerts, I’m side-eyeing you right now.

8. “All I Have To Give”

CAN WE TALK ABOUT THE WHITE SUITS WITH COLORED SHIRTS AND FEDORAS? OR THE BLUE JACKETS? Because we totally have time to talk about that. We can also talk about a proper boy band choreography.

7. “Incomplete”

If this song would have been released when BSB were at their prime, then it would have been a bigger hit. Sucks that this beautiful song was released in mid 2000s and didn’t get enough radio airplay as it should. This video of course showed a more mature group without the choreographies (which I love), but still had a nice desert scenery.

6. “Show Me The Meaning of Being Lonely”

All the boys have a story that unfolds within the music video about a moment that impacted their lives. Brian’s scene starts at a hospital, in reference to his open heart surgery, Kevin remembers his father, AJ is riding a bus that is going to “Denniz St” in reference to the death of Denniz Pop (whose, Nick saves a girl from being hit by AJ’s bus and Howie remembers his sister who passed away. Tears. Everywhere.

5. “Larger Than Life”

Someone needs to find a video of me actually dancing to a choreography to this song when I was in elementary school.
Futuristic Backstreet Boys? Yes please. I remember back then I thought the effects behind this video were great, groundbreaking for early 2000s!

4. “As Long As You Love Me”

YOU KNOW YOU WANTED TO BE ONE OF THOSE GIRLS AT THE AUDITION. One of their best songs to be honest.

3. “The Call”

I love how BSB always had their stories connecting, move over Babel and Crash! Backstreet Boys used stories that connected to each other before you! Of course I am kidding, but hey it was clever of them to do their videos that way. “The Call” always felt like a movie while I watched the video. Remember that phone? Watching all of these videos make me feel old.

2. “Everybody (Backstreet’s Back)”

Another movie-like video, but by far the most fun video, you know you danced to this at a Halloween party in the late 90s. One of their best and most popular songs!

1. “I Want it That Way”

Their biggest hit. I believe once this video premiered it was like Backstreet Boys takeover. Everyone knew about them now. Come on! The white on white clothing? The cover of Millenium!? Ah! Memories! The fans at the end were the perfect touch. Airports would never be the same for me because I always feel like singing this song as I walk through a terminal.

Of course there are many BSB videos that I didn’t include, which one do you think should have made this list? Let me know in the comments!

Thank you, Backstreet Boys, for making the late 90s and early 2000s awesome! Oh, nostalgia!
