With Coachella officially over, it’s safe to say that it’s officially festival season. From here on out, the next few months will be filled with news of what’s happening at each festival. The one we’ve got our eyes set on happens in August in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park. Yes, we’re talking about Outside Lands Music and Arts Festival.
The lineup already dropped and tickets have been on sale. While we count down the days until August (look, it’ll be here before we realize it), we’re making a checklist of the top 5 acts we’re excited for this year.
Kacey Musgraves
While we’re still reeling after this viral video of Kacey during her performance at this year’s Coachella, we’re also working on remembering the lyrics to her fourth studio album Golden Hour. After her clean sweep at the Grammy’s, who isn’t dying to see her headline at OSL?
Anderson .Paak and The Free Nationals
NPR’s Tiny Desk performance is all that really needs to be said. Not only is .Paak one of the most talented artists in his genre, but the chemistry he has with the free nationals is unmatched.
Childish Gambino
We know. There’s been a lot of Childish Gambino in the news and you know what? We’re here for it. No matter what city or what tour he’s playing in, Gambino has never disappointed. His live band elevates his performance and, of course, his signature dance moves are a must-see in real life.
Tierra Whack
When we first heard Tierra Whack’s Whack World in 2018, we admit, we were caught off-guard. It’s a melding of themes and unfinished motifs set in a cross blending between the R&B and rap genres that will keep you hitting that repeat button more than once.
PJ Morton
Another artist we fell in love with after watching their NPR Tiny Desk performance. Although a member of Maroon 5, PJ Morton is far more than that in his own right. Not conforming to industry standards, PJ stayed true to his own wants and, not surprisingly, grabbed two 2018 Grammy nominations for Gumbo.
Outside Lands Music and Arts Festival takes place in San Francisco from August 9-11. Tickets are on sale now.
