Today marks a bittersweet ending to New York-based duo Tropic’s story they created at the end of September.
The Young Folks is happy to premiere the official music video to “Bittersweet [Redux]” which comes from the eclectic fusion of R&B singer/songwriter Jo-B Sebastian and electronic DJ/producer Phuse (Jarel Hill). R&B and electronic music? Who knew? Clearly, Tropic did with their combination of heartfelt lyrics and smooth production.
Here’s what the two have to say about the video:
Shot on location in the untouched forests of upstate New York, the music video for “Bittersweet [Redux]” marks a conclusion to the story we started with our first music video, “Over You”. Directed by our good friend, filmmaker Evan Carter, and choreographed by New York-based dancer, Emily Garcia, we wanted to continue the dreamlike post-break up state that we captured in the first video. Juxtaposing the urban setting of the previous video with the lush solitude of the forest created a surreal audio-visual experience that perfectly mirrors the song.
