How to Make the Most of Your Next Music Festival

It is festival season and everyone who is anyone will be going to at least one of them, whether it be Coachella or Lollapalooza. With so much going on, from the music (obviously) to the crazy outfits and camping to the celebrity sightings, you have a lot to catch. Trust us, you don’t want to be that person who didn’t prepare for the grueling demands of festival life and miss out on an epic show because your phone died and you didn’t pack a backup charger. So read on a take note of this tips on how to make the most of your next music festival, whether it is you are a first-timer or a veteran.

Figure the schedule out…

Festivals are notorious for scheduling amazing bands at the same exact time. It is seriously infuriating. The moment they release the schedules, you should make it a priority to figure out when artists you cannot live without seeing and which ones you can skip. Or maybe if you watch the first 20 minutes of one set, you can run over to the adjacent stage and catch the end of another band’s set. These are all things that you need to work out ahead of time, when you have plenty of internet access and air conditioning.

Juice up…

While most festivals offer a variety of charging stations for people to juice up their Smartphones, they can get seriously crowded and you may have to wait a little while for an outlet to open up. It is always a good idea to take at least one portable charger with you that you can fill up at the end of the day in preparation for the next day. That way, your iPhone can be charging while you’re dancing the day away.

Take smart tech…

If we had to choose just one gadget to be the only piece of tech we can take to a music festival (aside from our phones of course), it would be a drone. Drones are able to capture unique video footage from above in a way that nothing else that is actually accessible to us can. Think about how cool those massive festival crowds will look from a birds-eye view. Not to mention the amazing concert footage you will be able to capture. While drones can be a little daunting to pick out – there are so many options – you can easily buy a drone online from retailers that know which is best suited for your needs.

Stay hydrated…

Most music festivals tend to happen when it is incredibly hot outside (looking at you, Coachella!), so making sure that you drink enough water is incredibly important. If you are camping with friends, make sure you have plenty of jugs that you can take to water stations to refill and keep a refillable bottle with you when you’re in the festival itself. Most festival grounds and festival camping areas have water refill stations to make it easier to stay hydrated. Plus, if you take your own bottles, you won’t have to keep paying $8 for teeny little single serve bottles.

Don’t mess with the sun…

Trust us, you don’t want those outfits you spent weeks selecting to be ruined by a ghastly sunburn – not to mention the actual skin damage a sunburn can wreak – so make sure that you take plenty of sunscreen. And keep reapplying. One layer for an entire day is not enough when you will be dancing it all off. You should also coordinate your outfits to include cute hats and then find the perfect festival shades to shield your eyes.

Stay as clean as possible…

Most campgrounds at festivals have showers and that is fantastic, but it is not going to be enough for an entire day. Most people start feeling pretty grimy halfway through a day, so make sure to take hand sanitizer, dry shampoo and ALL of the wet wipes. Seriously, many containers of wet wipes, because your friends will be using them. Your dirty feet will thank you. Plus, if the shower line is way too long and you simply cannot wait, you can at least wipe yourself down before passing out – though it is always recommended to wait for that shower, no matter how long it may take.
