Music News: Where is SZA’s new album “CTRL”?

We’re still stuck in musical limbo waiting for the release of SZA’s forthcoming album, CTRL.

Earlier this year in an interview with Billboard, a release date of Feb. 3 for the album was announced. Top Dog Entertainment (TDE), SZA’s label, recalled that statement and said that CTRL would be released “very soon.” It’s April, and there’s still no word on the official release date of her album.

Luckily, SZA has heard our pleas and has been teasing us with new music. “Drew Berrymore” the first official single for CTRL was released on Jan. 13, and she casually rolled out SZACTRL.com, an interactive site home of a mini visual documentary titled “Where the Hell Have You Been: road to Ctrl,” on Feb. 7.  In the footage SZA takes us on a journey through the making of this album. From what we can see, it has been a long process involving SZA finding herself.

TDE’s Founder, Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith took to twitter and gave us a general idea of when the album would be released.

Kendrick Lamar’s album, DAMN., was just released Apr. 14, so it’s a matter of time, right?

SZA’s last album was 2014’s Z and she’s appeared on TDE’s other releases including Isaiah Rashad’s The Sun’s Tirade, ScHoolboy Q’s Blank Face LP, and Ab-Soul’s DWTW. She also appeared on Rihanna’s Anti.

SZA and TDE haven’t mentioned anything else about CTRL since and fans are patiently waiting. At least she didn’t disappear like Frank Ocean did before he released Blonde.
