Feel good again, because Gorillaz are back.
The cartoon alt-rock band, lead by brit-pop legend Damon Albarn and cartoonist Jamie Hewlett, made Thursday their work day as they finally revealed big details of their impending fifth album. It’s titled Humanz (how ironic) and will be available on April 28, with 14 new tracks, a deluxe edition with five bonus tracks, and a “Super Deluxe Vinyl Box Set” with all 14 tracks on one LP accompanied by a second LP with alternate versions (how generous). The album features a cavalcade of guest spots, including Pusha T, D.R.A.M., Anthony Hamilton, Grace Jones, Mavis Staples, Carly Simon and longtime Gorillaz collaborators De La Soul.
If that weren’t enough, the group released four new songs to celebrate the occasion. The first of the four was “Saturnz Barnz” featuring Jamaican dancehall singer Popcaan, accompanied by a music video seen here:
Following that up was “Andromeda” featuring D.R.A.M.
Switching things up from spacey to sinister is Vince Staples on “Ascension”

Rounding out the new batch is “We Got the Power” with Jehnny Beth of post-punk band Savages and backup vocals from Albarn’s former brit-pop rival, Noel Gallagher of Oasis
Humanz is the first Gorillaz album in six years. It is the follow-up to The Fall, which was recorded entirely on Albarn’s iPad during the tour for their 2010 epic Plastic Beach. Albarn’s been busy since The Fall, reuniting with his original band Blur for a tour and 2015 album The Magic Whip. He also released his debut solo album Everyday Robots in 2014.
