Finally, the time has come. Sent shivers down my spine, body’s aching all the time… from laughter. We officially have the first official trailer for the highly anticipated Suicide Squad. I’ll be the first to admit that I am no longer very skeptical about the success of this film. Now it’s just a matter of each individual actor and how they embody their character *cough, cough* Will Smith as Deadshot *cough, cough*.
There is a trend of unconventional heroes making its rounds through all the major studios’ comic book films. Recently, it was kickstarted with the highly untraditional Guardians of the Galaxy, and now it is being followed up by the completely irreverent anti-hero Deadpool. We’re tired of immaculate heroes like Superman, and long for the complexity of morally gray people like the Guardians crew. It only makes sense that the next would-be heroes be villains forced to serve. Worst. Heroes. Ever.
It is still unclear what exactly the mission is, but all clues point to something alien. Add the Joker to the mix and Suicide Squad has the potential to be one of the most fucked-up fun roller coaster rides we are likely to be put through in film this year. The release of this film will have you questioning if this is the real life, or if it’s just fantasy. Believe me, this is real. Watch the trailer below, but be ready to watch it at least three more times… per night until the release of the film on August 5.
