We reported last week that Kristen Stewart is at the top of the list for Universal’s Snow White and the Huntsman. Well, now that has progressed; the actress seems interested in the role and is in the middle of negotiations, along with Viggo Mortensen and Charlize Theron.
This morning, reports came that Julia Roberts is in talks to play the evil queen. Uh… Isn’t Charlize Theron playing the evil queen? Yes and no. Apparently, there is ANOTHER Snow White remake being produced by Relativity Media and Brett Ratner. Julia Robert is in talks for Relativity’s Snow White. This one is a modernized spin on the Grimm Brother’s tale and there are plans to release it in 3D. There isn’t any indication how the talks with Roberts will go.
If two Snow Whites isn’t enough, there is a third one in development! This time Disney is working on Snow White and the Seven. Not much information is available on this project. It seems like the least developed of the three.
This is just too much. Hollywood has obviously taken a dip in creativity. To make three different remakes of the same story is ridiculous, especially when there are many unknown screenwriters trying to get their (original) script made.
What do you think? Should Hollywood take a step back from producing any more remakes?
