Snub: Martin Scorsese
To put it bluntly, marketing really fucked up with Martin Scorsese’s Silence. Scorsese’s 23-year-old passion project had little to no publicity going into its release and was only in limited theaters for a good while. Critics associations couldn’t even get their paws on screeners for nominations. It’s a tragedy seeing this film get no recognition because it was certainly one of the best of 2016. I might even go as far as saying that Andrew Garfield should have been nominated for this film instead of Hacksaw Ridge.
