A trailer was released for The Lost City of Z, the forthcoming film based on the New York Times Bestselling book of the same name by David Grann. It tells the true story of Percy Fawcett, a British explorer who disappeared in the Amazon in 1925. Fawcett disappeared into the forests of Brazil searching for a lost, and perhaps mythical, city. The movie is co-written and directed by James Gray, a director with a fairly small repertoire of films including 2013’s The Immigrant, which starred Marion Cotillard and received mixed reviews.
The film stars Charlie Hunnam, known for Sons of Anarchy and a number of recent films such as Pacific Rim, as Percy Fawcett, as well as Spiderman: Homecoming star Tom Holland, Sienna Miller of American Sniper and Robert Pattinson.
The Lost City of Z has received good critical reception since it premiered at the New York Film Festival earlier this year. The film is being launched by Amazon (and it’s set in the Amazon!) and will get a wide release on April 21, 2017.
