Denis Villeneuve’s Arrival made quite an impression on this year’s Toronto International Film Festival. Our own Allyson Johnson called it “an emotional experience” in her film review back on September. Even though they film uses aliens as the main plot story, don’t expect to see the next Independence Day. Paramount Pictures just released the final trailer for the upcoming sci-fi film.
Starring Amy Adams, Jeremy Renner, Michael Stuhlbarg, and Forest Whitaker, the story centers on Louise Banks (Adams), an expert linguist that is recruited by an elite team in order to discover the true purpose of a mysterious spacecraft that lands on our planet. This one-minute final trailer keeps the mystery alive by not revealing much, but on the contrary, make you wonder the who, what, when and why of the story. Might this be a good contender for Oscar season? It wouldn’t be the first time a sci-fi film made the cut (remember a little movie called Avatar?)
Ally mentions on her review that “Arrival will yes, make you think about what lies beyond our atmosphere, but more than that it will make you feel, and do so strongly.” Are you intrigued? I sure am.
Arrival is scheduled to open on November 11. Watch the final trailer below and let us know what you think in the comments!
