Coming out on August 17th, the movie features action packed ensemble actors . . . basically blowing everything to bits. Jason Statham, Bruce Willis, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sylvester Stallone, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Terry Crews, Charisma Carpenter and Randy Couture all return from the original film, although this time, Stallone writes and stars in the film, rather than directing and producing it as well. Chuck Norris, Liam Hemsworth, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Scott Adkins and Nikolette Noel all star in the film as well.
It is known for certain that Van Damme will play the villain, and it is rumored that Willis and Schwarzenegger will also be villains, although their exact “side” is unknown. You can watch the exclusive trailer on the official website only, where you can find posters and the synopsis for the movie. It states that Mr. Church has sent the Expendables to complete a easy job when someone from their group dies. They fight their way through the jungle and destroy 10,000 pounds of plutonium.
From the trailer, we can tell that Church and Trench are working together as a team, since they are together in a smart car (Trench’s foot is no doubt bigger) and they are shooting anything that gets in their way. Some facts: Liam Hemsworth was originally supposed to be in the original movie, but his role was cut when the script was rewritten. Also, Schwarzenegger filmed his entire role in 5 days and met up with the Bulgarian prime minister to give him Conan the Barbarian’s sword. And during filming, a stuntman died due to an explosion on a rubber boat while another was seriously injured. And since the sequel was written during the filming of the original, Dolph Lundgren’s character returns alive at the end, although he was supposed to die in the first draft. There is also a The Expendables videogame coming out that takes place between the two movies.
