Watch the first official ‘Wonder Woman’ trailer from San Diego Comic Con

Wonder-Woman-poster-imageThe first official trailer for Wonder Woman premiered today at San Diego Comic Con, and it really doesn’t get any better than this. Wonder Woman is directed by Patty Jenkins and written by Allan Heinberg and Geoff Johns. We’ve been getting pieces here and there about this film: it’s set in World War I, what Wonder Woman’s suit looks like, the poster. All little pieces that inevitably built up to this 2 minute and 45 second first look.

Gosh, I know right? You’re thinking the same thing I’m thinking, that we have to wait an entire year for this film to be released? What a cruel, cruel world.

This looks really cool. Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman/Diana was my favorite part about Batman v Superman, and I can’t wait to see her in her own solo film. From the action, the setting during World War I, an intriguing back story of where Diana came from, the lack of broody superheroes, and the overall tone of this say to me that DC is stepping up their game moving forward in their DC movie verse. What’s more, though it is set during World War I, Wonder Woman has an adventure feel to it, and along with that, a sense of fun that Batman v Superman was lacking. There was a noticeable shift in the Suicide Squad trailers, but here that shift toward a more light-hearted approach feels much more organic. I’m not quite sure what it is, but I’m much more invested in Wonder Woman than any other DC movie, and this trailer certainly delivers on those expectations.

Let’s not forget about Chris Pine as Steve Trevor, the first man who Diana ever meets. Pine was really great in Star Trek Beyond, and he only seems to get better in these few brief scenes of Wonder Woman. Part comic relief, part one side of a love story, Steve Trevor could be Pine’s best role to date.

I’m ready to have fun with DC movies. Wonder Woman is set to hit theaters June 2, 2017.
