While there are still plenty of much hyped about superhero films to get through this year including Captain America: Civil War, X-Men:Apocalypse and Suicide Squad it might have been easy to forget about the lesser talked about Doctor Strange. Lead by a performance from Benedict Cumberbatch, this one has been on my radar for quite some time due to the absolutely stellar cast they’ve managed to bring on board including Tilda Swinton, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Mads Mikkelsen and Michael Stuhlbarg. Directed by Scott Derrickson the story itself is largely set apart from our typical Marvel fanfare and seemed from the offset to be going the Guardians of the Galaxy route.
Now that the trailer is out what do we think? My first reaction was “what the hell is going on” which could be taken as either a good thing or a bad thing but at the very least, this looks unlike any other Marvel film we’ve seen thus far. Check out the synopsis and trailer below.
After his career is destroyed, a brilliant but arrogant and conceited surgeon gets a new lease on life when a sorcerer takes him under his wing and trains him to defend the world against evil.
