With DC Comics looking to reinvigorate their film department, it comes as no surprise they’d look towards every popular franchise under their belt to explore on the silver screen. However, with one Batman themed movie having already released this year (the mixed response feature that was Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice), a Lego Batman movie set to come out in 2017, and plans to create a feature entirely centered on Ben Affleck’s Batman portrayal, is it really that much of surprise to see Batman in the new Suicide Squad trailer? Who wants to take bets in how long it’ll take before Warner Brothers is renamed to ‘Warner Batmans’?
With the government in fear of what heroes like Superman could be capable of, they decide to explore a backup option that could be crazy enough to work. Bringing together a ragtag group of super-villains, such as Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie) and Deadshot (Will Smith), the secret government agency known as “Task Force X” assigns these villains dangerous black ops missions in exchange for clemency. However, with an unknown force posing a danger to the Earth and the unpredictable Joker (Jared Leto) to deal with, this Suicide Squad just might live up to their name.
At the time of writing this article, Suicide Squad is set to release on August 5, 2016. Are you excited to see what kinds of dark humor and action heavy sequences this feature will offer?
