If you are a little tired from all the seriousness of award season, we can provide a little break from all that jazz. You can thank Kevin Spacey for it in a few minutes. Yes, the actor who recently won a SAG Award for Best Actor in a Drama thanks to his role in House of Cards and has two Academy Awards in his pocket, is getting ready to become a cat in his next film, Nine Lives.
Directed by Barry Sonnenfeld (Men in Black) and also starring Jennifer Garner, Robbie Amell, Christopher Walken, Teddy Sears and Cheryl Hines, the film tells the story of Tom Brand (Spacey), a billionaire businessman who, on his daughter’s 11th birthday, gets turned into a cat named Mr. Fuzzypants. We’ve heard this story before: yes, you are very important in the world and very wealthy, but don’t forget your family and the things that matter.
The teaser doesn’t show much, but we can tell it’s going to be one of those films you can watch on TV later. I just hope it doesn’t recreate Tim Allen’s 2006 film, The Shaggy Dog.
