There a number of festivals in the film industry that are dedicated to a certain aspect of film production: be it the writers, actors, directors, producers, or more. However, there are rarely any that focus on the entire aspect of filmmaking and are ready to offer any help for its winners in terms in film distribution, VOD rights, press coverage, advertising, and more.
And here comes the NYCIFF. The sixth annual New York City International Film Festival took place from May 1st to May 7th at the DGA Theater in New York. By encouraging filmmakers all over the world to submit to the festival, it gives talented people the chance to showcase their work to a deserving audience, thus getting proper feedback as well as having a perfect chance to network.
There were a number of short and feature films that premiered and were shown at the festival, and with them, came a number of actors and directors presenting the films. Peter Bodganovich, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, and Rebecca Romijn were all in attendance for the premiere of Phantom Halo, while William Shatner presented the film Chaos on the Bridge. The following are the award winning films from the festival.
For the Best International Feature Film, the award goes to The Sinking of Sozopol, from Bulgaria.
The Best USA Feature Film Award goes to Phantom Halo.
The Best Actor In A Leading Role Award goes to Tommy Flanagan for Winter, from the UK.
For Best Drama Film, Winter takes the award.
Heidi Greensmith takes the award for the Best International Director.

The Best USA Director Award goes to Antonia Bogdanovich.
The Best International Narrative Short Film Award goes to It’s Me, from Lebanon.
The Best International Original Screenplay goes to Assil and Jad by Bane Fakih from Lebanon.
The Best Narrative Short Film from the USA is awarded to Family On Board.

Family On Board’s George Pogatsia takes home both the Best Director in a Narrative Short and the Best Actor in a Leading Role in a Short Narrative Awards.
The Best International Actress in a Leading Role in a Short Film Award goes to Wallis Murphy-Munn for Sandboy, from the USA and Ireland.
The Best USA Actress in a Leading Role in a Short Film Award goes to Elisabeth Jamison for the film Falling to Pieces.
A Journey to Taiwan takes home the Best Documentary Short Award.

Eloise, Little Dreamer gets the Best International Animated Short Award, and the Best USA Animated Short award goes to Archaeology.
The Best TV Pilot goes to Topsy McGee and the Best Musical Video goes to Stella.
