The Oscar Nominations are out, and to the surprise of many, several blockbusters were granted coveted spots on the Oscar stage. Of the films nominated, Mad Max: Fury Road and The Revenant received the most nominations with each garnering 10 and 12 nominations respectively. Fury Road is the biggest shocker as it’s a film the Academy tends to shy away from due to it being a summer blockbuster (Fury Road was released on May 15).
Although the nominations were in line with many predictions, there were some surprises. Sylvester Stallone who played Rocky for the seventh time in Creed received a nomination for Best Supporting Actor–which garnered much love from fans, myself included. Bryan Cranston was also a welcomed surprise as he received a Best Actor nomination for his role in Trumbo. However, both are not projected to win come February 28 even though both actors delivered performances worthy of such recognition.
Since it’s Oscar season, I couldn’t help but film my own live reaction to the nominations, which you can see below along with the list of nominations. What are your thoughts on the 2016 nominees?
