For those of you who are preemptively mourning the ending of The Hunger Games saga, rest assured with the knowledge that Jennifer Lawrence is at the very least here to stay and the official trailer for David O. Russell’s upcoming Joy is proof. The Oscar winner and multiple nominee will get a fitting showcase in the upcoming film, and while it’s too early to tell if the film will enter the Oscar conversation (and too early to really talk about it period), it would be foolish to discount the team-up of Russell and Lawrence, a winning duo up to this point. However, I hope that an actress with the talent that Lawrence possesses will eventually move on from Russell, and that she’ll start playing more age appropriate roles.
Small quibbles, I know. Are you ready to see Lawrence light up the screen in Joy?
Joy will hit theaters December 25th, so mark your Holiday calendars.
JOY is the wild story of a family across four generations centered on the girl who becomes the woman who founds a business dynasty and becomes a matriarch in her own right. Betrayal, treachery, the loss of innocence and the scars of love, pave the road in this intense emotional and human comedy about becoming a true boss of family and enterprise facing a world of unforgiving commerce. Allies become adversaries and adversaries become allies, both inside and outside the family, as Joy’s inner life and fierce imagination carry her through the storm she faces. Jennifer Lawrence stars, with Robert De Niro, Bradley Cooper, Edgar Ramirez, Isabella Rossellini, Diane Ladd, Virginia Madsen, Elisabeth Röhm and Dascha Polanco.
