September is here which means that while I’m still kicking sand off of my shoes we’re also officially into the overlong but irresistible Oscar season as the big festival juggernauts begin to hit the ground running. Today we saw the beginning of this with the first trailer for the highly anticipated The Danish Girl starring Eddie Redmayne.
While I don’t know how happy I am about a straight, cisgender man playing the role of a transgender woman, and it’s important to highlight the need for a more inclusive atmosphere for transgender actors, the trailer is genuinely chill inducing. Time will tell about how the story is handled but with a cast as stacked as this it’s hard to not be tentatively excited.
