This is a tough question because there are so many great characters out there. My current choice is Layla from Sarah Dessen’s Saint Anything. She is welcoming and loyal the instant she meets Sydney and that’s a great quality in a friend. Layla is also fun and quirky (she has a method for eating french fries, after all) and seems like she’d stand by me through anything. – Lauren Wengrovitz
