There’s one more case to be had on Baker Street! Mr. Holmes puts a twist on the classic tale of the world’s most famous detective. It takes us to a time where the celebrated, quick-witted Sherlock Holmes is no more. In the newest trailer, we see him as an elderly man with his days numbered. Each passing moment weakens his mental sharpness, but before he goes, he wants to solve one last case. The case he was never able to piece together, the case that has lingered in the corners of his mind for years.
The movie stars Ian McKellen as the titular Mr. Holmes who, with his quiet, but keen gaze, plays the part of detective perfectly. The film seems like an obvious tearjerker because first, we get to witness the man rather than the myth that is Sherlock Holmes. Second, we see a man who has always relied on the power of his mind cope with the realization that he is slowly loosing grip on the one thing that defined him, the one thing that made him Sherlock Holmes. What’s more, it looks like Dr. Watson has been replaced with little detective, Roger Munro, who judging from this first sneak peak, looks to be the culprit of our future tears. Check out the trailer below!
