We learned a few weeks ago that Chloe Grace Moretz landed the lead role of Cassie Sullivan in Sony’s adaptation of the bestselling YA thriller, The 5th Wave. My excitement over that casting announcement was through the roof as the talented young actress is a perfect choice for the role.
Today, The 5th Wave added two new actors to its cast. First up, Nick Robinson will be playing Ben Parish, as known as “Zombie.”
I interviewed Nick Robinson last year about his great indie film, Kings of Summer. The kid definitely has what it takes, and I can totally seeing playing Ben/Zombie very well.
The other main male lead goes to… Alex Roe, who is set to play Evan Walker.

Right off the bat, Alex physically looks how I imagined Evan, who happens to be one of the most intriguing characters in the book. The British actor has starred in a few projects. I haven’t seen any of his work yet, but I hope that Alex can nail the intricacies behind the mysterious Evan.
So far, I’m very happy with the cast of The 5th Wave. It’s shaping up to be a great movie with J Blakeson helming the project and a script from Erin Brockovich screenwriter Susannah Grant.
For those who are just learning about The 5th Wave, the story follows Cassie Sullivan, a teenage girl trying to survive an alien invasion. The aliens attacked Earth in waves, and the 5th one is imminent. Cassie is in on the road searching for her kid brother; she can’t trust anyone because the aliens not only invaded the world, but humans themselves. The movie is based off the first book in Rick Yancey’s thrilling YA series.
