I had the chance to attend an advanced screening of ‘The Fault In Our Stars’ last week and fell in love. Here are some of the top scenes that fans of John Green’s best-selling book can look forward to:
1. When Hazel (Shailene Woodley) and Augustus (Ansel Elgort) Meet and attend their first support group together. We’ve seen lots of snippets of this moment in the TFIOS trailers that have graced the Internet so far but the entire scene in the movie does Green’s writing justice. The audience will “Awww” and laugh during the entire scene.
2. Egg throwing scene at Monica’s car. While this scene may seem too obvious to be a favorite, Josh Boone (director), Shailene Woodley, Ansel Elgort, and Nat Wolff, made this scene come to life on the big screen.
3. The flight to Amsterdam. Hazel and Gus’s relationship comes alive in this scene. Nerdfighters will know that this is the first time Gus has ever flown in an airplane. Ansel’s representation of “NOTHING HAS EVER LOOKED LIKE THAT IN ALL OF HUMAN HISTORY” (Green 147) has the audience laughing out loud.

4. Hazel and Gus discussing ‘An Imperial Infliction’ while Isaac is destroying trophies over his broken heart. Another scene that has been in some of the trailers, this scene will leave Nerdfighters very pleased with the entire cast of the movie. Hazel and Gus are clearly both in love with Peter Van Houten’s book. Meanwhile, Isaac (Nat Wolff), has the audience entertained as he tries to recover from Monica’s dumping him.
5. When Gus attends his own funeral. This scene will have you both laughing and crying over the eulogies that Hazel and Isaac write for Gus. It is one of the most heartwarming moments of the movie as it is made clear how loved Gus is.

6. When Hazel finds out she gets to go to Amsterdam. Technically, I am thinking of two separate scenes from the movie: the picnic when Gus tells Hazel that the Genies have granted his wish and when Hazel gets an email confirming that she actually gets to go to Amsterdam. The picnic scene proves that Hazel and Gus’s love is worth all of the trials and tribulations. When Hazel finds out she gets to go Amsterdam, the pure joy of the scene makes it seem as if Hazel is a real person, and not a fictional character.
If you are a fan of the book, it is definitely worth seeing. The cast and crew did a wonderful job of staying true to John Green’s book and blending in humor to a movie that could be depressing if done incorrectly. ‘The Fault In Our Stars’ will be in theaters on June 6th.
