Don’t you just love Summer? Vacations, a blazing sun, some relaxing time at the beach getting a tan and…oh, BLOCKBUSTER MOVIES! It Summer Blockbuster Extravaganza started a few weeks ago, but films with big budgets and known characters are still coming our way! Tomorrow is the release of Godzilla ( FYI – read Evan’s review HERE!) and in just a few more weeks…Transformers: Age of Extinction will arrive.
The film – opening on June 27th – is directed by Michael Bay and stars Mark Wahlberg, Nicola Peltz, Jack Reynor, T.J. Miller, Kelsey Grammer, Stanley Tucci, Titus Welliver, John Goodman (voice), Ken Watanabe (voice) and Peter Cullen (voice). Just a few hours ago a new trailer was posted with loads of new action footage and more Autobots, Decepticons and…Dinobots! This new trilogy on the Transformers franchise tells the story of a mechanic and his daughter who team up with Optimus Prime and some Dinobots to save earth from extinction. And in other related news, this week a new TV clip of the film was released with part of the song “Battle Cry” from Imagine Dragons. The band have apparently been asked to write some tunes for the film (alongside composer Steve Jablonsky). The full song will be released on June 19th where the Las Vegas quartet will perform the song live at the “Transformers” worldwide premiere in Hong Kong. In the meantime, watch the 52-second clip and listen to “Battle Cry“.
I’m going to go ahead and say that I will not like this song (what happened with Linkin Park?). Will this new trilogy in the Transformers universe become a hit this year, or just another fail for Bay? Only time will tell.
Oh! And look! New poster too!
