Last night the Directors Guild of America gave out their awards for directorial achievements in film and television for the year 2013. After the tie between Gravity and 12 Years a Slave at the PGA awards, the winner of the DGA would likely take an edge heading towards the Oscars on March 2nd. As picture above, Alfonso Cuarón won the coveted DGA award for his exemplary work on Gravity. He is now the odds on favorite to win the Best Director Oscar and I would also argue that Gravity is not the frontrunner to take home best picture. Predicting a split between Director and Picture is risky business indeed. We’ll know for sure in early March, but one thing is for sure: what an exciting season.
