A few months ago, the first teaser trailer for ‘The Secret Life of Walter Mitty‘ was released. The film, being directed and starred by Ben Stiller, is based on a short story written by James Thurber back in 1939. This would be the second film adaptation of Thurber’s work (being the first one made in 1947). Just a few hours ago, a new trailer hit the web and, in my humble opinion, it is just as good as the first.
The trailer shows Stiller playing Walter Mitty, a shy and monotonous man who is a photo editor at Life Magazine and often fantasizes about doing cool and heroic stuff. A crucial photo for the magazine’s last cover is missing and Mitty must go and find the photographer who took it. Not only the cinematography shown in the trailer leaves your breathless…but the music as well. We get songs from Queen, Of Monsters and Men and José González.
In spite of the mixed reviews it’s gotten so far, I’m willing to give this one a chance. Stiller’s take on this tale is scheduled to open on December 25, and it also stars Kristen Wiig, Adam Scott, Patton Oswalt, Sean Penn and Shirley MacLaine.

And while you are at it, listen to “Step Out”, song by José González that also appears at the end of the trailer. The soundtrack will be available in stores and in digital form on December 17, 2013. Other bands included in the album are Of Monsters and Men, as well as Jack Johnson, Rogue Wave, Grace Mitchell, Junip and even a David Bowie song by Kristen Wiig. Interesting, don’t you think?
