How do you think it feels to go from playing a faux-super hero with no powers, to a super hero with powers? Aaron Taylor-Johnson is definitely feeling it because the “Kick-Ass” actor has finally confirmed his role in the upcoming, much-anticipated sequel to “The Avengers”.

The actor rumored for the role since July, The Wrap is reporting that Kick-Ass and Savages star Aaron Taylor-Johnson is officially set to play Pietro “Quicksilver” Maximoff in Joss Whedon’s Avengers: Age of Ultron.

At the same time, Evan Peters ( “American Horror Story”) is going to be playing a younger version of the same character in “X-Men: Days of Future Past”. Which is very odd to me. Not only were Taylor-Johnson and Peters both in “Kick-Ass” together, but they were cast as best friends in that movie. Meaning, they’re of similar age and look a similar age. Granted, a lot can be done with Special Effects Make-Up these days, but it’s certainly an odd choice to have two different actors portray the same character in such circumstances.

Despite that notion, you can officially color me excited. Taylor-Johnson understands the idea of being a super hero thanks to filming two installments of the excellent “Kick-Ass” comic series, so he’ll be ready and raring to go when its time to act out the part of the super-fast and super-fast thinking Quicksilver. When asked about the rights to use the characters in both “Age of Ultron” and “Days of Future Past”, Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios, had the following to say.

“There’s a specific arrangement with those two characters [ed. note: Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch] that would allow us to use them with ‘Avengers,’ but not discuss or reference their mutant or Magneto-related lineage. They can use them as mutants and as Magneto’s relatives, but cannot have anything to do with ‘The Avengers.'”
