[tps_title]8. The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (Nov. 22nd)[/tps_title]
“The Hunger Games” kind of let me down. I felt like it took to long to set-up, and didn’t have enough, well, Hunger Games. However, the premise is strong and lends itself to some great storytelling. I have it on good authority that this book is much better than the previous one, so I’m excited to see what the film has to offer. JENNIFER LAWRENCE, whose star has truly taken off in Hollywood since “The Hunger Games”, is back as Katniss Everdeen returning to her home in District 12 after winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games with Peeta Mellark (JOSH HUTCHERSON). Seeing as Katniss and Peeta broke the rules and ended up both winning the tournament, President Snow (DONALD SUTHERLAND) is really angry. This year is the 75th Hunger Games, thus, it is the Quarter Quell, a special Hunger Games that dips in the victor pool to use as tributes. This means that Katniss and Peeta are pitted against some of the very best and fiercest competitors, and it is Snow’s hope that they do not make it out of the Games alive. Pretty much the whole cast (or, at least, the ones that survived) return for this one along with 100% more PHILIP SEYMOUR HOFFMAN playing the part of Plutarch Heavensbee.
