Watch: Trailer for ‘Hercules: The Legend Begins’ starring Kellan Lutz

Kellan Lutz Hercules 3DLooks like we will have a battle of Demigods soon in a theater near you. The first trailer for ‘Hercules: The Legend Begins‘ has arrived. The film of this well-known Grecian hero stars Kellan Lutz as the main character and it’s being directed by Renny Harlin (‘Die Hard 2,’ ‘Exorcist: The Beginning’).

This ‘Hercules’ version tells the story of a young man who must choose between following his heart and being with his true love or fulfill his destiny and become the  true hero of his time. “We didn’t want to make a movie that is just this brooding guy who’s  just going from fight to fight, and just being violent and brutish,” Harlin explained recently. “For us, the love story was very much the heart and key to his character and his story.”

The trailer shows nothing we haven’t seen before in these type of films: plenty of sword fights and the use of very cliche dialogues such as “Tonight, we fight for our lives!”. Mix a little bit of ‘Gladiator’ and ‘300’ and you have got yourself a film. I hate to sound all negative about it, but that is just what this trailer does for me. I hope it proves me wrong and turns out to be a great film.

‘Hercules: The Legend Begins’ is set to open on March 2014 in the USA. Liam McIntyre (‘Spartacus’), Gaia Weiss (‘Mary Queen of Scotts’), Scott Adkins (‘The Bourne Ultimatum’) also star. Please, try not to confuse this film with Brett Ratner’s forthcoming ‘Hercules: The Thracian Wars’ which features Dwayne Johnson as Hercules and will open in July 2014.
