The official trailer premiered for A Wrinkle In Time tonight turning the American Music Awards on ABC. The reveal came only days after Disney unveiled the poster for the spring release.
Director Ava DuVernay directs the adaptation of the Madeleine L’Engle’s classic 1962 novel from a screenplay written by Frozen‘s Jennifer Lee. Combine both writer and director and there’s going to be a lot riding on the film, which opens less than a mother after Marvel’s Black Panther. DuVerney directs a talented cast that includes Oprah Winfrey, Reese Witherspoon, Mindy Kaling, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Michael Peňa, Levi Miller, Deric McCabe, André Holland, Rowan Blanchard with Zach Galifianakis and Chris Pine and introduces Storm Reid. Jim Whitaker and Catherine Hand produce with Doug Merrifield serving as an executive producer.
An epic adventure, the film will take audiences on an adventure through both time and space, looking at the nature of light verses darkness, and the triumph of love.
This is not the first adaptation of the book. Disney previously released a made-for-television film that starred Katie Stuart, Gregory Smith, and Alfre Woodard, among others. The film had been set to air as a miniseries in 2002 but was pushed back until 2004. Unfortunately for fans and the late author herself, it was not well received.
Walt Disney Pictures will release A Wrinkle In Time on March 9, 2018,
