Ryan Gibbs’ Top 10 Most Anticipated Pop Culture Things of 2017
It should not come as a shock to the people who know me well that I went for Los Campesinos!’ new album as my most anticipated thing of 2017. I’ve loved that band more than any other over the past decade, and I’m incredibly excited to see what their sixth full-length LP has in store (knowing them, more songs about British soccer, awkward breakups and gallows humor). My second choice is Supercalifragile, the sixth and final album by the wonderful power pop group Game Theory. I love that band a whole bunch, and it’s going to be wonderful and cathartic to hear new material from their late frontman Scott Miller one final time.
- Los Campesinos! – Sick Scenes
- Game Theory – Supercalifragile
- Japandroids – Near to the Wild Heart of Life
- Being able to actually purchase an NES Classic
- Star Wars: Episode VIII
- Battlebots Season 3
- The Criterion Collection release of Being There
- The new album from Fleetwood Mac that’s apparently supposed to come out
- The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction of the Electric Light Orchestra
- Doctor Who series 10
