Hello and welcome to yet another episode of Directors of Cinema, the show that highlights the careers of cinema’s most prominent directors. Each week, host Matt Goudreau and guest discuss selected works of a chosen director.
This week, Matt and special guest Justin talk for quite some time about the works of the late Wes Craven. As you can will find out, this episode ran much longer than usual but that’s because we had so much to debate and talk about. Justin goes to great lengths to vouch for Craven as a true pioneer in the horror genre. While Matt appreciates his contributions to the genre, he argues that Craven’s films are much better in concept than they are in execution.
Some of the films we discuss include:
- The Scream Franchise
- Wes Craven’s New Nightmare
- Red Eye
- Cursed
- A Nightmare on Elm Street
- The Serpent and the Rainbow
- My Soul to Take
As always, you can listen to the show directly or download it later for future enjoyment. Thanks for listening!
