Mankind has been closely tied to end of the world prophecies for as long as we have been on this planet. The most recent end of the world prophecy comes from the Mayan civilization and their sudden stoppage of their calendar up to the year 2012. To be exact, it stops on December 21st 2012, and if you haven’t been read on your social media or heard people talk about the end of the world just mere days away, you’re so lucky! It has always been one of mankind’s biggest concerns to learn how our time will come to an end: whether it is a huge asteroid, natural disasters, aliens invading the planet, Jesus’ second coming or full-on nuclear war, no one really knows. Not even you, Mayans. The planets are supposed to align and this will bring Earth to enter a “new cycle”, let’s just hope it’s not a cycle of destruction and extinction of the human race, because I would be so devastated if I don’t get to see Zero Dark Thirty, Django Unchained and don’t get a chance to listen to A$AP Rocky’s debut album or Frank Ocean finally win his Grammy.
December 21st is fast approaching, I have selected a Top 10 End of The World Music and Movies list to keep us entertained until next Friday, too soon?
Movie: Armageddon
Hands down, one of my favorite end of the world movies ever. I totally support the idea of Bruce Willis saving the planet.
Movie: Take Shelter

In the event that the end of the world begins with a storm, a shelter seems like a great idea, unless our biggest enemy isn’t the storm itself, but our own selves.
Music: “Till The World Ends” – Britney Spears
I am definitely blasting this one on December 21st, Britney knows how to get a party started just before a meteor shower in an underground club.

Movie: Children of Men

This great film by Alfonso Cuaron takes a different perspective on the end of the world, the end of the world humans have created due to women being fertile and no new generations being born.
Music: “2012” – Jay Sean

Jay Sean tried okay, he said that we can party like it’s the end of the world so we might as well huh?

Of course, cars are not flying yet and full face make-up isn’t 5 seconds away, but Fifth Element remains one of my favorite movies ever, and TA-DA! Bruce Willis trying to save the world again, this time with Milla Jovovich playing the lovely Leeloo.
Music: “I Don’t Want To Miss A Thing” by Aerosmith
You knew, you knew this song was coming the moment I posted Armageddon. And yes, part of my apocalypse playlist. LOOKIE HERE! It’s Bruce Willis!
Movie: The Day After Tomorrow

GLOBAL WARMING! In other words, the end of the world as we know it with a new ice age featuring Dennis Quaid and Jake Gyllenhaal.
It’s not natural disasters, it’s not aliens, it’s not an asteroid, it’s robots! Oldie, but goldie, The Terminator brings back the fear of machines overpowering humans in 2029. (They were smart enough to overlook the Mayan apocalypse)
Music: “4 Minutes” by Madonna featuring Justin Timberlake
I still don’t know if the world is ending at 12:00 am on Friday, or at noon or at 3:42 pm, point is, just for precaution at 11:56 pm on Thursday night a lot of people will play this one!
Are you doing anything for the so-called apocalypse? I have my playlists and movies ready JUST IN CASE!
