David Levithan announced four new books he plans to publish starting in 2016. He recently inked a four book deal with Random House Children’s Books imprint, Alfred A. Knopf Books for Young Readers. Levithan will be re-teaming with Nick and Norah co-author Rachel Cohn for two of the novels. Here are the four books that you are to look forward to because they are highly likely to be awesome:
The Twelve Days of Dash & Lily – Co-authored with Rachel Cohn, this sequel to the delightful Dash & Lily’s Book of Dares is set to release in Fall 2016.
Sam & Ilsa – Another collaboration with Cohn, this standalone novel tells “a story about a set of twins who go to a fateful end-of-the-year party.” A release date has yet to be announced.
To-Be-Titled-But-Will-Probably-End-With-“Day” Sequel to Every Day – Unlike Another Day which is a companion to Levithan’s Every Day, this new book is a direct sequel and will pick up where both books ended to chronicle the next part of A’s journey. We don’t know the release date of this one yet either.
“Mystery” Book – The fourth book of the deal is said to be a standalone young adult novel, but no details were given about it. Guess we’ll have to wait and see.
I’m really excited for all these books. However, I’m particular eager for the Dash & Lily and Every Day sequels. Dash & Lily’s Book of Dares is my favorite collaboration from Levithan and Cohn; they captured pure magic with that novel and I’m happy we get to revisit those characters. As for the sequel to Every Day, if you’ve read Another Day, you kind of saw it coming. With those two books, he really built up to a sequel, and it’s going to be fascinating to see what A (and hopefully Rhiannon) encounter next.
Which upcoming David Levithan book are you most looking forward to reading? Sound off in the comments.
