Tyler is 14 years old and lives in Southern California. His passion has always been for film. He’s been reviewing movies for over a year-and-a-half now under the title “Movie Kid Reviews” on his Facebook and is thrilled to now be part of The Young Folks team. Whenever he’s not doing schoolwork, Tyler is probably at the movies, reviewing one he just saw, or cooking up a new screenplay that he’ll direct with friends for short film festivals. In 2012, Tyler and a friend of his made a short documentary, “Free Hurt: Bullying And The First Amendment” which went on to be an Official Contender at the C-Span StudentCam 2012 Film Festival. Tyler’s idols include Christopher Nolan, Steven Spielberg, David Fincher, and more recently he’s taken a liking to the works of Paul Thomas Anderson. His favorite films include “Pulp Fiction”, “Back To The Future”, and “Good Will Hunting”. His hobbies include acting, screenwriting, directing, debating, and mock trial. His goal in life is to be a writer-director. You can contact him at tyler@theyoungfolks.com.

Tyler’s Movie Review: The Wolverine

Near the end of The Wolverine’s first act, Hugh Jackman as Logan inexplicably finds himself on a Japanese bullet train, fighting members of the Yakuza, the Japanese mob. The scene feels out of place and is kind of jarring, like…

“It’s a bird! It’s a plane!” Two phrases you won’t hear uttered or referenced anywhere near Man Of Steel, the new Superman reboot from producer Christopher Nolan, who brought you the birth of the realistic, gritty, and dark superhero epic with his Dark…

The Hangover was the first R-rated film I went to see in the theater and since then, it’s one of the few comedies I can watch that always makes me laugh. The film has staked itself in pop culture with an…

Tyler’s Movie Review: Star Trek Into Darkness

It’s been four years since JJ Abrams rebooted the Star Trek franchise in the fantastic Star Trek, a film that not only managed to please the masses of fans, but also audiences across the world. I point out that it’s been four…

Tyler’s (Early) Movie Review: Fast And Furious 6

This one’s an exciting one. Not only is this review two months early (At the time of this review’s writing, it was late March), but its also for a summer film that I was really looking forward to. But I…

Tyler’s (Early) Movie Review: The Kings Of Summer

One of the most talked about hits to come out of this year’s Sundance was The Kings Of Summer, and at points, it’s hardly a Sundance film. It’s a decidedly raunchy teen comedy, laden with curses that will probably earn it an…
