If you’re anything like me, you know that seeing an artist live gives you a sort of connection to the musician. Going to live shows is probably one of my favorite past times. So whenever one of my favorite artists comes to my hometown, you can bet I’ll be paying top dollar to be as close to them as possible in order to feel that energy I crave. Now, if you don’t know who Ellie Goulding is, or any of her songs, you’ve probably been living in a cave for the past 3 years or so. Ellie Goulding is one of those artists you feel an instant connection with as soon as she gets on stage. Although a lot of her songs seem to be somber or a bit slower, she puts her own twist on them making every performance engaging and equally rewarding. She is one of the few artists who sounds exactly the same whether she’s on stage or in the studio. She can range from EDM collaborations with Calvin Harris like “I Need Your Love” to one of my favorite, simpler tunes “How Long Will I Love You”. Ellie has become a sensation with her infectious hits “Lights” and “Burn” while still maintaining a steady fanbase among pop lovers and electronic dance music lovers alike.
Born in Lyonshall, United Kingdom, this Brit is nothing short of amazing. She is committed to making her songs masterpieces and she has achieved just that. At the tender age of 27, Ellie is just getting started. She’s already performed at the White House and even at a certain Royal Wedding that had the whole world talking. Although she’s kept her plate full with her own recent album Halcyon Days, she’s managed to find time to write songs for feature films such as “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire”, “Divergent”, and “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2”. She has made collaborations with artists like Zedd, Skrillex and Chiddy Bang. Even though she often admits the inspiration for her first album was mostly the troublesome times she had been through, I find it almost impossible not to relate to practically every song on the album, Lights.
So what has she been up to recently? Well, she was on tour with Bruno Mars, performed with Zedd at the 2014 MTV Movie Awards and just finished playing a hell of a set at Coachella; quite the busy bee. Pretty soon, she’ll be continuing her tour throughout the United States and Canada and will also be performing at Sunfest 2014 in West Palm Beach, FL! In case you guys were wondering, that is severely close to my hometown. If you live in the South Florida region, you might want to check out Sunfest for yourself, there are a BUNCH of cool artists playing including Sublime, Austin Mahone, Goo Goo Dolls and J.Cole just to name a few. Of course Ellie will be there and will be closing out the festival. Tickets are extremely affordable, so what are you waiting for?
