The Tribeca Film Festival is not only known for its world renown films that are featured there, but also its annual Tribeca Street Fair held on Greenwich Street between Hubart and Chambers Streets in downtown New York City. The 2013 Tribeca Street Fair was held on Saturday, April 27 and there was a lot of events going on to take advantage of and enjoy.
The day was also shared with ESPN Sports Day where athletes came and joined the crowd in a set of activities promoting the physical activities of children, including former Knicks and Georgetown player Jerome Williams. People also received the opportunity to join the Tribeca Studios Backlot which allowed them to make their own movies and learn how to work with animations and green screens. They also participated in workshops and were able to learn more about stunts, makeup, editing and much more about the making of a film.
There was also a stage in the middle of the street that featured performances from the casts of certain Broadway shows including “Annie,” “Wicked,” “Cinderella,” “Kinky Boots,” “Motown: The Musical and Hands On A Hardbody,” and more.
Guests were also greeted with a sneak preview of The Smurfs 2 including the chance to meet cast members like Christina Ricci and director Raja Gosnell, and were even able to see the first Smurfs movie right on the spot.
There were numerous booths that people could go to and enjoy the sunny warm day, like Radio Disney AM 1560, PepsiCo, Time Out New York, the New York Times, Pure Leaf, and much more.
The day was an overall excitement for both kids and adults alike and was surely a fun experience for all. Watch the videos below to see a workshop on stunts as well as the classic New York City street performers.
