The road to making a Vampire Academy movie has been a bit of struggle for producers Mike Preger and Don Murphy. But the project has recently received new life by nabbing a screenwriter, Dan Waters (Heathers), and a director, Mark Waters (Mean Girls). (Yes, the two are actually brothers.)
After years and years of fan casting Rose, Lissa and Dimitri, it looks like Vampire Academy has its leads: Zoey Deutch, Lucy Fry & Danila Kozlovsky!
From the picture, it’s easy to see who is playing who, and to be honest, I think the casting is pretty spot on as far as looks go. (Here’s a picture of Danila in long hair.) Deutch can soon be seen in another YA adaptation, Beautiful Creatures. Her previous credits include the now-cancelled Ringer and Disney Channel’s The Suite Life on Deck. Lucy Fry starred in an Australian TV Show called Lightning Point. Kozlovsky has quite a few Russian films to his name. Overall, these three are relatively unknown and don’t add any star power to a project that sure needs it.
However, it is promising that we now have casting news for the Vampire Academy movie. It’s one of my favorite YA series, and I hope the project does come to fruition.
What do you think of the new Vampire Academy cast members? Are you happy? Disappointed?
