I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again: creating movie trailers in an art that only few master. Not only do you have to get the attention of a large audience in only a couple minutes, but also make it memorable, remarkable and able to stand out in our minds. Example? The latest Atomic Blonde trailer released a few days ago thanks to Universal Pictures.
If you loved the first trailer, the second one is going to take your breath away. Starring the amazing Charlize Theron in the lead role and directed by David Leitch (John Wick‘s co-director), the film tells the story of Lorraine Broughton, a combat and intelligence specialized spy sent to Berlin to investigate the murder of an agent and recover an important list of double agents.
The movie made its debut at South by Southwest back in March and it’s gotten some positive reviews.
The fun part of this trailer is not only the action scenes or the spy ambiance in Berlin, the music plays a very important part in it as well. The sound mixing of songs such as New Order’s Blue Monday, Depeche Mode’s Personal Jesus and Kanye West’s Black Skinhead is perfectly choreographed in each punch, kick, jump and boom. It’s not the first time we see (and hear!) this kind of music cue in trailers, but it’s always great to see new ways of mashup techniques, especially with Kanye West’s songs.
Also starring James McAvoy, John Goodman, Toby Jones and Sofia Boutella, Atomic Blonde is set to open on July 28, 2017. Watch the trailer above and let us know what you think in the comments!
