Trailer for Andrew Haigh’s 45 Years Arrives

45-Years-DI-1

Having been selected to screen at Berlin, Toronto and Telluride this year, Andrew Haigh’s 45 Years has becomes something of a quiet revelation, earning raves each step of the way. The film won the Silver Bear for Best Actress and Best Actor at the Berlin International Film Festival and, for those of you already on the Oscar hype train, there’s rumblings of Charlotte Rampling slipping into the Best Actress race.

Having directed won of the strongest films of the last five years in Weekend, Haigh has already made a name for himself with that and his sadly short lived television series Looking, becoming a bit of a master of subtlety and quiet devastation. From the trailer alone it would appear that these are assets being used in the film, and if some of the passionate reviews are anything to go by, this could be a beautiful, heartache inducing film.

It’s certainly one of my most anticipated of the upcoming season. Take a look at the trailer and synopsis below and let us know in the comments if you’re excited to see the film as well!

There is just one week until Kate Mercer’s (Rampling) 45th wedding anniversary, and the planning for the party is going well. But then a letter arrives for her husband (Courtenay). The body of his first love has been discovered, frozen and preserved in the icy glaciers of the Swiss Alps. By the time the party is upon them, five days later, there may not be a marriage left to celebrate.
