This week’s episode of The Originals, “Night Has a Thousand Eyes”, was much better than last week’s. They brought us back to the major plot for the season, and we finally met the infamous Dahlia. There were quite a few minor plot lines unfolding this episode, that really made this episode feel like season one.
Dahlia really showed the extent of her power in this episode. She can control minds, and she can kick some original vampire ass. I am not sure how they will find a way to defeat her, but I know they will. This is to be expected.
I loved all of the character interactions in this episode, specifically between Mikael and Klaus. Mikael was brought back and killed all in one episode. I am pretty sure he has died about three or four times at this point, so I don’t expect this to be goodbye forever. No one ever truly dies on The Vampire Diaries or The Originals, this is a fact. Klaus and Mikael were able to bond on a higher level, as fathers.
I am finally beginning to like Freya. I still don’t completely trust her, but I feel even more
This episode had plot lines with Josh, Aiden, Devina, Hayley, and Jackson. It was nice to see the ensemble cast utilized in the same way as season one. I do miss Cami, who we haven’t seen for a few episodes. Season one worked so well because it introduced all of these characters so perfectly, but their spotlights disappeared in the latter half of season two. The new actress playing Rebekah is getting better. I just don’t think she embodies Rebekah, as played by Claire Holt, but since the original actress is set to be in a fall pilot, she may be gone for good.
There are only a few more episodes left this season. Do you think they will defeat the big bad Dahlia in the season finale?

As a side note rant, this episode was not aired live where I live. Instead of The Originals, The CW aired a baseball game. I was rather frustrated by this, as you would expect. The CW also does not have an On Demand channel with Verizon, my cable provider. I had to watch it online, which doesn’t bother me, but it is the point of it. Sorry for the rant, but this annoyed me as loyal viewer of this show. Is this a problem that you faced while watching this episode?
The Originals airs Mondays at 8/7c on The CW.
